Hi Caz.
I imagine that if the piercings are metal they will transmit the cold, however your body temperature will also keep them warm, so I really don't think it would make much of a difference. Bear in mind that if you are in a particularly cold area / day or in a blizzard you may get frosbite on those areas easier than you would without.
Cheers.

Hi there,

My name is Esbjörn, I work at 50 Degrees North in Melbourne. We specialise in travelling to Scandinavia and the polar regions. I recently travelled to Antarctica (with Oceanwide Expeditions). We produced a free iBook, for the iPad, from the trip. If you wanted to have a look, here's the link:

Feel free to share it with your followers if you like.

Would you mind listing us as well on your directory for Oceanwide - Melbourne?

Many thanks!
Esbjorn

Thanks for the info but one thing I can't find info on is whether or not it's okay to wear piercings when in Antarctica - earrings or facial. Is this a big no no or okay if covered up and kept warm?

Hi Pete (and everyone else!)

I'm currently stationed on the National Science Foundations McMurdo Base in Antarctica, working science support- and I would be more than happy to send you, your friend, and anyone else who wants a postcard from Antarctica one! I can answer a specific question you have or just send a general friendly message. This is especially fantastic for kids- teachers can make an entire lesson around it, having kids write me letters, and then each student gets a postcard in response.

I'm trying to fund-raise money for a great charity called bike and build- so for a $5 donation in my name I will send you a postcard! Let me know if you (or anyone else) is interested! My email address is: PostcardsfromAntarctica@hotmail.com
